Indooroopilly Station is a railway station in Indooroopilly, Queensland, Australia, on the Ipswich and Rosewood and Springfield lines.
Immediately south of Indooroopilly station, the line crosses the Brisbane River on the Albert Bridge, next to the Walter Taylor Bridge.
History
The railway west of Brisbane, brought significant growth to suburbs close to the city such as Indooroopilly, Taringa & Toowong. The station was first opened on the 14 June 1875 as Witton.[1] It was renamed Indooroopilly in 1879.
In mid-2007, the Queensland Government, through TransLink, provided QR Citytrain with funds to upgrade Indooroopilly Station to improve disability access, attractiveness and security in and around the station. In July 2007, preliminary works began on Platforms 3 & 4, therefore closing both platforms to all trains. In January 2008, Platforms 3 & 4 were reopened and Platforms 1 & 2 closed for renovations. The station upgrades were completed in 2009. [2]
